HAYES - Adopted in November 2023

Please consider giving a chance to a shelter animal waiting for their forever home. Shelters are inundated with animals and struggle to survive...

Hayes was brought to us on May 1, 2023, after someone found him abandoned outside for a long time. After being in our care for a few months, we realized that Hayes was suffering from arthritis and knew that one day he would need appropriate treatment. During his stay, Hayes gave the staff a good laugh by pulling his blankets and bed into his outdoor cage.

On November 18, 2023, Hayes was adopted by a young couple. He was able to learn to trust other dogs and was taken to a day-care center where he met young children for the day. He enjoys his walks and still loves being out in nature. He has also started his arthritis treatments and is doing very well.

HOBO- Adopted in August 2024

Please consider giving a chance to a shelter animal waiting for their forever home. Shelters are inundated with animals and struggle to survive...

On May 29, 2023, we received an urgent call about a cat in need of immediate veterinary care. Hobo had unfortunately been found with several deep wounds all over his body. We had no idea of the seriousness of his situation until he returned from the vet. His body was definitely sore from pain and discomfort. After several months of hydrotherapy, medication and cream, one of the wounds wasn't healing properly. He was taken to the vet for further tests. At the end of November, we learned that Hobo had tested positive for FIV.

As we're a small shelter, we didn't have a suitable space for him at the time. Fortunately, another shelter in the province, Dunroamin' Stray and Rescue, was able to take him in and care for him until he was adopted. After months of care, we were convinced that Hobo would one day find a family who would love and care for him, whatever his condition.

On August 3, 2024, we were informed that one of our former employees who had looked after Hobo when he was with us had adopted him! He now lives with his big sister Lexi (Golden Retriever) and has a whole house to play in and cuddle with his family, who have given him a second chance in life.

GARY "WINSTON" - Adopted in June 2024

Please consider giving a chance to a shelter animal waiting for their forever home. Shelters are inundated with animals and struggle to survive...

When I first met Winston, I was deeply touched by his condition. His coat was not white but gray, stained with a black substance, blood and full of burdock. He was thin and his look suggested that he had lost all confidence in life. He'd been abandoned for some time...

I'd just had my six-year-old big yellow cat Bradford euthanized. Still grieving, I thought I'd drop by the shelter to renew my weekly lottery. That's when Gary and I met. I was overwhelmed by his condition! I decided to visit him and offer him some treats.

During these encounters, he seemed to recognize me but found it hard to look at me. Little by little, his condition seemed to improve. He couldn't be adopted until he had been treated, vaccinated and neutered by the vet. I had no intention of adopting another animal, as I already had three at home: Paisley, my cat, and my two dogs, Tia and Bennie, who has a very dominant character.

From one visit to the next, Winston seemed to lower his barriers and a special bond developed between the two of us. The shelter staff understood what was going on and suggested that I foster Winston.

Since then, Winston has established himself as a member of his new family. He's doing very well, eating well, has put on weight and his coat has grown back. He's affectionate and purrs when petted. He loves visitors. He spends his days playing, observing his surroundings and dozing off.

FUEGO - Adopted in 2021

Please consider giving a chance to a shelter animal waiting for their forever home. Shelters are inundated with animals and struggle to survive...

Fuego was brought in to us in very rough shape. He was hypothermic, had an injury to his left eye and seemed very ill with a runny nose! After a vet visit, it was discovered that Fuego had a cleft palate and his left eye would need to be removed.

He has since recovered and been adopted to a kind family.

PRINCESS - Adopted in December 2020

Please consider giving a chance to a shelter animal waiting for their forever home. Shelters are inundated with animals and struggle to survive...

Princess arrived at the shelter in October 2016 after being found in a box on the side of the road. She was adopted but brought back less than a year later. From the start of her stay with us, Princess was known for her short temper and feisty attitude. Princess has come a long way and has slowly begun to love cuddles!

In December 2020, a kind family offered her a home just before Christmas. She had received all the love and affection she deserved.

Sadly, we learned that Princess passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024.

FLAME - Adopted in December 2023

Please consider giving a chance to a shelter animal waiting for their forever home. Shelters are inundated with animals and struggle to survive...

Flame came to us in July 2023 with her sisters Betty Boop, Ash and Barb, who all had kittens of their own. They were found abandoned outside and needed a safe place to care for their babies. Fortunately, we found some amazing foster families who took care of them until we had room at the shelter.

A month later, Flame had to go to the vet for an emergency caesarean section. She delivered 6 premature babies. Flame was suffering from pyometra, a bacterial infection in the cat's uterus. This is a potentially fatal infection requiring emergency medical treatment. Flame was only 9 months old at the time!

Sadly, at 10.15pm on August 22, 2023, 5 of her 6 kittens passed away. Monkey was the only surviving kitten. A few months later in December 2023, Flame was adopted and is now living the happiest life ever. Monkey also found her home in January 2024.
